Lassen County is abundantly rich in natural settings with year-round recreational activities. Lassen County enjoys a clean natural environment with excellent air quality. Its rural communities are ideal for raising families with less crime, traffic, and lower cost of living.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 4,720 square miles (12,200 km2), of which 4,541 square miles (11,760 km2) is land and 179 square miles (460 km2) (3.8%) is water.[10] Part of Lassen Volcanic National Park extends onto a western corner of the county.

Lassen is an overwhelmingly Republican county in presidential and congressional elections. The last Democrat to win a majority in the county was Jimmy Carter in 1976. In 2016, Lassen was Donald Trump's best county in the state, with a 50 point margin over the overwhelming statewide victor Hillary Clinton.
